camo

We have hosted the application camo in order to run this application in our online workstations with Wine or directly.

Quick description about camo:

Camo is a lightweight Node.js HTTP proxy that serves insecure (HTTP) images over HTTPS, eliminating mixed-content warnings on secure webpages. It authenticates request URLs via HMAC, allowing admins to cache-bust or block content, and supports whitelisting by MIME type. Originally built by atmos for GitHub comments, it's now archived but continues to be used and forked (e.g., camo.cr).

Features:

• Proxies HTTP assets through HTTPS to prevent mixed-content
• HMAC-signed URLs enable cache invalidation/control
• Whitelists image MIME types for security
• Built in Node.js; easy to deploy via Docker or Procfile
• Used by diaspora* and GitHub to secure embedded images
• Repository archived (read?only since April 2021)
